The 935 weekday buses at peak times were well used by Westgate rail passengers. The replacement X41 on the Holmfirth-Leeds morning journey doe not stop outside the station, instead it stops on Smyth Street. A letter from Arriva in September indicated that this would be a temporary measure, but there is no indication of when it will change. On the Leeds - Holmfirth evening journey, it does stop outside the station. As a daily commuter of years standing, I have noticed a significant drop in users of this service.
The 935 service provided a fast link each day - the X41 is limited to three morning and three late afternoon services.

A. Gill 30/10/07 @ 1255:
The diversion from Westgate to Smyth Street is due to larger vehicles now used on this route as Neil Holt @ Metro has helpfully informed us some time ago (not even the drivers seem to really know what is going on there!).
Wakefield Council only allows a certain size vehicle to cross the right-turn onto Westgate, and until the building works (started in September and lasting 10+ weeks in total) are completed all buses aside from the FreeCityBus have to avoid this route.
Of course the question then is why they use the bigger buses in the first place, especially since they regularly get stuck in Shepley and the 435s in Clayton West. However, the length of the route of both the former 935 and the X41, as well as the 435, seems to be just that little bit too much for the city hopper type buses to cope with - hence technical difficulties on the old 935 vehicles.
