PUBLIC transport in the region has been underfunded, Metro bosses say.
Plans to make it more sustainable have been welcomed as the chairman of Metro says action needs to be taken quickly to resolve the issue.
Metro wants to add more low-carbon transport to its fleet, but it needs the public’s backing when the Government’s Transport Department holds a regional consultation into the allocation of £20bn.
Research released by the department shows there has been decades of under- investment in the transport infrastructure.
On the www there are some fantastic resources to find information, here are some comments found on the Wakefield Express website from Arrivas Management about the service they provide!
July 2007 - Arriva in Good Shape according to departing MD
"three years ago the company found it difficult to recruit staff, the company struggled to get buses out on time and keep them running, but now costs had been cut, training had improved and staff numbers had increased.
Service had gone from mediocre to the top in Arriva UK"
Comments to the paper by the departing Managing Director Phil Stone.
