Better Buses for All

This is a proposed route/timetable system we discussed with various parties and was agreed to be both cost-saving and more convenient for all involved:

Express Services: Ca. 45 Minutes

X49/41 from Holmfirth - Denby Dale - Scissett - Wakefield
X48 from (Holmfirth) - Denby Dale - Skelmanthorpe - Scissett - Wakefield

Daytime/Evening Services: Ca. 55 Minutes

935 Holmfirth - Shepley - Denby Dale - Scissett - Clayton West/Chapel Hill -Wakefield
835 Holmfirth - Denby Dale - Skelmanthorpe - Scissett - Clayton West WF Road - Wakefield

Key Points:

• Alternating during the day with times synchronised with Stagecoach services to allow cross transfer to Skelmanthorpe, Shepley, Bretton & Denby Dale Wakefield Road
• Taking less than 60 minutes each way, which allows just 2 buses to run the service during daytimes and evenings, with additional vehicles being used only on a small number of peak time journeys (mostly X41 journeys extended from Leeds)
• The shorter route and journey time attract more passengers and provide all areas - including Skelmanthorpe - with the fastest, most convenient public transport link with Wakefield
• The shorter route and need for fewer vehicles saves costs that can be invested in tendered peak time and occasional daytime express services through to Leeds, attracting shoppers and catering for students, part time workers and leisure traveller
